Flax and Star Jasmine

Residential terrace, January 12, 2012
It is an odd combination, I must admit, for the first combo on this blog. But I like how they look together. Since they have different water requirements, you will have to take that under consideration, but if you don't irrigate the flax at all it will be fine - so don't put a drip on it and do put the drip on the Star Jasmine. When you buy the flax at the nursery, make sure you get one that is the right size for your location, this one can get to 9-12' high and wide.

Above: Common name: Flax
Genus species: Phormium tenax
Below: Common name: Star Jasmine
Genus species: Trachelospermum jasminoides
Sunny side yard in Montclair district of Oakland, California is near the house so probably has a lot of shade and is irrigated with a drip
