Coral Flax

Lake Merritt public walkway, February 14, 2012
In honor of Valentines Day I've picked out a plant I found along the path at Lake Merritt today. It is a unique color of Flax that I have not seen before. I love the color so much that I decided to share it with you all by itself without a combination plant to go with. I love the coral color.

Botanical Name: Phormium tenax
likely 'Maori Maiden' hybrid, observed on a sunny Valentines Day near Lake Merritt, Oakland, California. Irrigation probably.

  2. Excellent blog and interesting post on landscape designs, it is always good to hear about new ideas

  3. Thanks very much for your comments. I suppose the flax is something you use a lot in your designs because it is such a drought tolerant plant. Enjoyed looking through the portfolio on your web site.
